Give an Hour of Pro Bono Next Wednesday at Georgia Lawyers for the Arts with the IP Section
Next Wednesday, July 11, give half an hour (or more!) of pro bono time to an artist. Bring a friend. It’s fun, simple, and requires no continuing obligations!
When: July 11, 1-4pm (30 minute time slots)
Where: Georgia Lawyers for the Arts’ legal clinic for low-income artists at GLA’s King Plow Arts Center office (887 West Marietta St NW # J101, Atlanta, GA 30318)
Who: You and other members of the IP Section of the State Bar. Feel free to buddy-up: We encourage you to bring along your mentor or mentee for a collaborative pro bono afternoon!
What: You can give from 30 minutes to three hours, at your choice. Each artist gets 30 minutes to vet his or her legal issue with the lawyer(s).
This clinic is limited to copyright, trademark, and general contract issues. You will be able to review a detailed description of your client’s legal issue in the days preceding the clinic. You are not committed to any follow-up after the clinic – e.g., you will not have to draft any contracts or trademark or copyright registrations.
How: RSVP via email to GLA’S Katherine Russell at Katherine.Russell@glarts.org (subject: July 11) to volunteer. Include the amount of time you can give (and specific time-slots, if necessary). GLA will follow-up with you regarding your assigned arist(s) and issue(s).
NOTES: PLEASE RSVP NOW! We have artists standing by to be assigned. Don’t miss this fabulous opportunity!
If you are an in-house attorney, GLA’s malpractice insurance covers you for purposes of participation in this legal clinic.
